PROJECT DESCRIPTION: |
A young soldier is convicted of war crimes. Stetko is the boy next door who comes from respectable parents and has gotten caught up in the political events of a war he never understood. LIke the good son, the good soldier, he obeys his superiours only to find that, at the conclusion of war, he has become the scapegoat for crimes "everyone was doing." He is "resuced" buy a woman from the enemy side. The Monument examines the paradox of a soldeir today, and the ambiguities of morailty and justice. |

Mejra is a strong woman grieving the loss of her daughter to a war she does not understand. Her daughter was killed by enemy soldiers. She seeks revenge for her only daughter at the same time attempting to not become the monster the soldiers are. She fails.
The actress: MUST BE, PHYSICALLY FIT (no back problems, no aches and pains) It is a very physically demanding role. She must be TRAINED with a few years under her belt on the boards. This role is not for beginners... it is a two person play...on stage through out the play. |
